Step by step...

If you have bad, acne-prone skin, consider using a tinted moisturiser to help cover it up.

If your skin is perfect, except for some shadows under your eyes and a spot here and there, use a regular everyday moisturiser instead of a tinted one.

Conceal your imperfections. Use a light, good-coverage concealer that also doesn't give the 'caked on' feel. Concealer will help to hide your imperfections, and make your skin look just a little bit better. Dab the concealer with your finger to fade the concealer naturally into your skin. Alternatively you could use a concealer brush to blend it.

Set your makeup. Find your favourite setting powder. Swirl a powder brush in it, or a puff, and tap off any excess. Now gently sweep it over any areas you applied your concealer. If you want, use the excess on your brush to sweep over your entire face. This will set the concealer in place and keep it from sliding off halfway through the day. Don't cake on the powder. That is NOT attractive whatsoever.

Make your eyes up.

  • Find a light nude cream eyeshadow. This will act as a base and also it will help brighten your eyes.

  • Use your finger or a stiff eyeshadow brush to pat this cream shadow all over your eyelid. Don't worry if it's not perfect.

  • Find a light nude powder eyeshadow, and gently sweep it across your eyelid for a gentle wash of colour.

  • Find a eyeshadow depending on your skin tone and mood for the day; fair skin: white eyeshadow, tan skin: pinks, dark skin: golden hues or light browns or a natural look, and purple for a dramatic look. Make sure it's not too sparkly.

Apply blush or bronzer. It's up to you whether you use bronzer or blush, preferably matte. Dab a big fluffy brush one or two times in the product, then blend it from the apples of your cheeks to your temples. Don't apply too much - you just want to give your face a healthy glow.

Finish with lips. Apply an SPF chap stick. Then apply a clear gloss over your lips. If you want some colour, use a very light nude-colored lip gloss.
